A cranial remolding helmet, or orthosis, is a device used to treat head shape deformities such as plagiocephaly and brachycephaly. The head shape improves by providing contact in some areas and pockets of space at other areas of the skull to promote symmetry.

We strongly believe in conservative treatment! Tummy time and repositioning are great tools to begin early and often in your infants head shape journey. Infants heads grow fast early in life, ideally, we recommend cranial remolding treatment to begin between 4-7 months of age. This allows for optimal results and capturing your child’s milestones on the growth chart. In our Cranial Remolding Program, treatment generally occurs within 8-16 weeks. This may vary depending on the infant’s age and severity of cranial asymmetry.

A prescription is required for a cranial remolding orthosis. Prescriptions can come from your pediatrician or specialists from the craniofacial or neurosurgery departments.

Leimkuehler, Inc. offers free cranial head shape evaluations. At your appointment, we will measure and scan your infants head. With each scan, the unique Talee report shows the treatment progress of your baby on a chart, in 2D cross-sections to follow the progress.
