Conventional and Body Powered Prosthetic Systems

Durable + Functional + Light Weight

Every prosthesis Leimkuehler, Inc. fabricates is specifically designed for each patient using casts, measurements and working models.

The conventional above elbow and below elbow prosthesis consists of a socket, triceps cuff, suspension and cable systems with flexible or rigid hinges.

Body powered below elbow control systems consist of one stainless steel cable attached to the figure eight or figure nine harness at one end and the terminal device at the other. The harness transmits muscle and joint movement to the cable system which in turn operates the prosthetic hand or hook.

Above elbow control systems require two stainless steel cables. One flexes the prosthetic elbow joint and operates the terminal device. The second cable allows for the locking and unlocking of the elbow.

There are a variety of terminal devices available. Hooks offer more versatility, lighter weight and increased durability. Hands can be functional as well as cosmetically appealing. Specialty sport and work specific terminal devices are available. https://www.trsprosthetics.com
